I have been reading this thread with interest and particularly Race Insructor's comments that a jet could be as much as 5 jets out (148>160).We race at Whilton and have frequently had our idle jets etc checked by the scruts with their needle gauges. I'm thinking of asking them when we're there next weekend to check our main jets for us. I'll be happy to publish the results if they agree to check them for me. Whatever method of jet calculation you subscribe to, it can only be relevant to your own actual jets and how you keep them/mark them, especially, as I do, having more than one of each jet and never thought before about there being an actual difference between jets marked the same size.
I think a lot of people will be interested in everyone's findings on this and without any side debate on what you then do with the information.
