It varies on the track and event Russ. If you go to donington then there are very few marshals because we are treated like crud, there are no curfews so events can run until 9 on a Sunday night....14 hours on post without a break gets a bit tiring. Places like oulton treat their marshals pretty well, plus there's a 630 curfew so we know when we are going to finish. You tend to get more marshals at the bigger meetings because some people only like to volenteer at touring cars and British gt meetings......events like f1 haveands et number of marshals, about 150, and also a minimum grade....so you are invited to do the meetings assuming you have the level of experience, and the number is limited cos Bernie doesn't like letting people in for free.
Anyway I'm rambling.....minimum number is usually 2 to a post, I've been at touring cars where there are about 10 to a post but that's very rare at club meetings.....usually you get 4 or 5 on a post....so about 70 or so marshals usually...
