But if everybody is on the same jetting what's the problem? In fact IMO it removes one more obstacle to the best driver winning, rather than the best equipped. Motorcycles have been produced for decades that run on standard jetting, why do kart engines need constant fettling?

Having competed in a race at the highest kart track in Europe (2000 metres at Pas de la Casa in Andorra). Even there, in a class with fixed jets, everyones engines ran like a bag of Sh!t, but it was the same for everyone and the racing was just as close.
