The decisions has pro�s and con�s from what I can see but now there is a clear understanding for the new class people can decide what they want to do. The MSA have chosen a good product from what I can see but the issue will be the transition period for those who are already racing in Comer Cadet. If you have an 11yr old who has less than 5Kg�s on the kart I think there is little point changing on the other hand if you have an 8yr old with 15kgs then you should look at upgrading to the new motor. The fact that it is starting from scratch with a new engine means there are no �special� therefore super high price motors out there which has put people off Comer in the past. I am sure there will be engine builders working on the fiche as soon as they arrive to maximise the performance so they will come soon . With the motor being un-sealed it will reduce some of the rebuild costs for basic maintenance if you have the skills but I am sure the engine builders will find performance tricks so there will be money there for blueprinting .
TAG has to be an advantage for newcomers as long as it is reliable but there is the issue of the extra complexity of wiring looms and batteries plus the weight of they don�t address the 99kg class weight.
For us I am very glad we decided to move up to Jnr TKM in September so we didn�t have to worry about the changes but I have had numerous conversations with our friends still in Cadets and I think a lot of those with 11 or 12 yr olds will move up rather than reinvest in new kit.
I think the interesting thing is the numbers in Jnr TKM have grown significantly in the last 18 months and Minimax appears to be suffering at club level, I suspect that is because people look at TKM as the best value for money in these difficult times. The cadet engine change may signal a similar trend where those who stay in cadet at club level either go with Honda or Comer Clubman because of costs and avoid the new class and therefore the new Iame class becomes another Super cadet which only the FKS and S1 teams run.
