I can say with confidence that the Lightning is a much better kart than the Storm. You may not find the Lightning faster to start with as the driver will need to adjust driving style, but in the long run you wont regret changing to a better kart.

We bought a new storm end of 2010 and sold it two weeks after. My son thought it was a pile of junk! He did try one after that, but still thought it wasn't good enough. On the other hand he thought the lightning was a much better kart to drive.

If you are looking to change chassis don't discount other cadet brands. I can highly recommend the Shark and Wright karts, especialy good in my opinion is the Shark chassis and its better made than the lighting with better conponents.
