I find this product funny, you have to admire the distributor for being quick to see an opportunity to make money out of the rotax community. This thread started about 6 months ago and people started asking the question and pin guages were mentioned. Now they have bought one set of pin guages and one would assume a large quantity of jets if they are as inaccurate as we are led to believe by some people.
The other question you may like to ask is what does the Kart Genie distributor do with all the jets that are incorrect.
If we are all finding jets which are oversized and undersized, then he must be doing the same, so what is he doing with the ones that are incorrectly marked. It would be nice to think that he is selling them on for scrap rather than passing them back onto the Rotax karting community.
This question was asked at Kartmania and George Robinson said that Dellorto have said that they are measured on flow, not size of hole. So as long as they give out an acceptable flow for a 162 they will be stamped 162 even though the hole may be bigger or smaller than another 162 jet.
what seems to be more important is the condition of the jet, ie no burrs affecting the flow of the fuel into the jet and that the jet is clean.
If you have 1 set of jets and you test with them you will get to know what the difference is. If you find that a smaller or larger jet makes no difference, then try another one of that size or go down or up to the next size. Eventually you will have a set of jets which you are confident in.
If you already have a set of jets and think this is worthwhile doing then hopefully you will only have to change a few jets.
If you dont have a set of jets and you think that you can trust Kart Genie to have done this work for you then go and spend your money, then go and test them.
Good luck.
