Hunnikin....
You have to be realistic, here. It would be possible to measure the accuracy of the start to within 1000th of a second...... and then we'd have complaints from someone claiming they we 10,000th of a second behind 2nd place....
This IS karting; it's NOT Formula 1.
If you are claiming that number 2 'cheated': then you should have laid your money down and protested. If you think the starter DELIBERATELY favoured number 2 over your lad, then you need to take things further.....
However, if, like the rest of us, you think that the starter alowed a race to start within what MAY be fairly counted as 'within tolerance', then I hope you'll note that, the probability is that (over your career in Karting) the odds will even-out giving you as many such 'lucky breaks' as you 'bad breaks'.
The other thingt I'd suggest is that you volunteer for marshal/starter/timer or ANY voluntary post within your club and have a go at being on the receiving end of such complaints. It'll show you quite how impossible it is to manage ANY competitive event to the satisfaction of EVERY person.
