Chassis setup can lose you 2 Seconds+ If you engine is running OK - reaching top revs for correct gearing, then look at the chassis and tyres. The first question is the chassis straight? front and back. even if you haven't had a crash or knock they still go out of true. You can have huge variation in track condition, some tracks can be a second and a half off even in similar weather conditions. If the other racers are quicker- sub 45 then look to the kart. Set the Kart up to its base settings, put a reasonsable amount of air in the tyres 13-15PSI and test, only change one thing at a time, record your results, don't be afraid to ask for help, look out for a Gillard team. If you are relativly new to karting thens it's a steep learning curve. If you are dad and lad, then enjoy the time together, learn to communicate, when he complains about no grip, ask where, Turn in?, mid corner, no traction out out the corner, understeer/oversteer? which corners?. If a track has 10 corners then losing a 1/10th per corner accounts for that second. Look at you sector times to help identify problem areas.Be methodical, have a test plan. No quick answer I'm afraid but enjoy solving the problem- anyway the Dad mechanic is always the fall guy!
