Thanks to all for your comments. Have spoken to my local Rotax Authorised Dealer who will break this engine down in front of me. Taking this course somewhat reluctantly as maybe probs inside this I can't deal with ref "chocolate" con rod and big-end assy. Just a couple of comments though: even if this engine was unsealed but my son was having fun with it out outside of racing it certainly wouldn't be regarded by myself as "worthless"! Also the comments regarding measuring are of interest to myself personnally as a time-served Machinist/Quality Engineer. Have spent the last few years producing FAIRS for the Aeropspace/Automotive industry, to very high AS standards. Would be interested to know how many (I know thats a bit simplistic!) dimensions are measured/recorded from this engine and using what equipment? Surely this is only conventional mics/bore gauges etc. not requiring CMM or any programming.? The prices certainly sound steep to me (O.K.,over-heads etc) as this �350 figure would be a weeks work to myself.
