If it's fixed by removing and refitting the clutch, then it sounds like a clutch problem..... BUT..... let's make a silly guess, that a stone fell into the crank case. It jammed the crank and that was the cause of the problem. Removing the clutch has dislodged the stone enough to let you turn it over...... however, the stone IS still in there.....
Both those scenarios COULD be the cause and the 'stone' could more realistically be a part of the piston skirt.
The only logical cure will be to dismantle the engine to check.
So, unless you found damage or evidence of misalignment with the clutch, then you have not eliminated all the possible problems. I think you need to bite the bullet and dismantle it. If it's OK now without you making any changes, then it could well fail again the moment you start using it again.
