junior max if it makes any difference?
racing at the weekend i noticed that my lads lap time were best when the engine temp was around 60-65 celcius range. i was told to stay around 55 , any more is bad, but ive read online of others stating not in the uk, that between 55-65 is the optimum temp range? not only were his lap times better but overall his revs were better low end and high end, definatley more competetive. i just put the higher temp down to running higher tyre pressures and reduced them for the next heat. this did bring down the engine temp to 53-57degrees but lost around 4-5 tenths, (new tyres, 20 laps old, incase its asked) rev dropped by around 500 top and bottom. kart set up correct as far as i can gather, couldnt give any more grip with set up, without bogging him down. so can someone say which is correct? i take it that it is desirable to get the engine up to temp as quick as possible as im presuming that the engine pick up is slower until it reaches temp ?
we are new to rotax so still finding our feet. thanks
