Nice thinking there...... let's codify it:
'Don't do anything the 'old way' because, by definition, the newer methods are MUCH better..... even before we test them.......'
Those of us who HAVE tried the 'old ways' AND the 'new ways' (standing starts) in the past..... KNOW that rolling starts cause less disasters....because we've EXPERIENCED BOTH!
Yes..... in a rolling start, if a kart 'bogs down' it can cause impacts...... f you think THAT's bad, you just WAIT until a kart stalls on the front row of STANDING start and see the MAYHEM that occurs with the 'last kart' being un-sighted and then running into the stationary kart that WAS on the front row!!!
How do I know this will happen...... because I haver BEEN there and have WITNESSED the spectacular shunts that occur. More than once!
The reality is that EXPERIENCE and OLD WAYS are often damned good BECAUSE those old-ways have been formed FROM the experience of finding the 'new way' simply DON'T WORK!
Let's compare karting in the 1970s to todays karting. All the 'ways' were 'old'..... and our grids and entries were SPECTACULARLY higher than today. At Kimbolton, the 'standard class' (equivalent to Rotax today) was 100 National. The grids had to be split into THREE LEAGUES (A,B and C...... and even D on busy days) to allow us to handle the VAST number of club-driver entries...... Racing at most tracks was restricted to CLUB MEMBERS and those of 'invited' clubs ONLY ...just to keep the numbers tolerable! Is THAT what we find today WITH all the 'New Ways'? A 'club' day would have had the same sort of numbers of entries in 100 National that current NATIONAL races (e.g, the TKM Festival;) have today! Do you think we were RICHER (had more disposable income) in the 1970s than we have today? You must be joking! And we STILL had to fight-off too many entries!
I rest my case!
