Karting already has lightweight 4 stroke engines? Swissauto, Tech f1, vampire and the Biland Fighter. Obviously getting down to the weight of a 100cc is near impossible but the likes of the SwissAuto 250 actually weight exactly the same as a Rotax, complete engines like for like. And although the rev limiter is set to 13k its proven it can rev to 15k... So the engines are there, just no one wants them.
A Libre class would be perfect, from my understanding in the state they dyno each type of engine and then weigh it down with ballast to make the field equal, this would allow slower less competitive engines to be tuned to the power of the newer electricary engines and would make for some awesome racing with differences in power/torque curves and driveability.
P.S Banzai... The smell may not be there, but the engine on the right, rad on the left looks much more suited to a kart than the engine/rad on one side... As for the noise... Well... if we ever have the fortune of meeting at a track, my tuned biland on full song hitting the limiter is the best sound you can hear in karting. trust me ;)
