Honestly, it's better for you to use any 'length' suggested as a hint.... but work out the actual 'best' for yourself.
If you have a Mychron 3 or 4 (or some other decent gauge), you can use them to plot the engine output at various revs to see if your karts performs better (at Kim) with length X or Y. With a bog standard stop watch, you can time the effects.
Lastly, changing the flex length alters the point where 'most power' is delivered in the power curve. Developing HUGE power in the middle of a corner (at rev x) is pretty useless if you are stuck behind another kart. You could probably use more power at the start or end of a long straight. Thus, although length X reduces you lap-time, length y may be slower on the stopwatch BUT may allow you to overtake or defend yourself from being overtaken,
