For me the 'shocked' is Honda cadet. That was surposed to be an economical "non tuning" cadet class. Such has been the level of development (cheating) by the engine builders. The rules have had to be changed to allow tuning. The development can be seen in the lap times. When the Iame engine was introduced, the Honda was restricted to make the Iame seem the "premier" class. These pages were full of horror about how much this would slow the Honda. Surprise, now even restricted, the lap times are very similar. Considering, setting up the Iame, will also have 'developed' in that time, proportionally the Honda has been brought on more.
Anyway my point, even the Honda, has become expensive to run because people are spending daft money chasing big engines and certain batch numbers. Others are having their engines rebuilt at 2 stroke type intervals and as you know thee tuners will happily take their money
