Basically your engine needs to be of a certain pedigree, but it does depend on how much time your chasing. At Super 1 most engines are within a couple of tenths but the strongest ones are worth alot of money to super 1 dads as a couple of tenths is the difference between 1st and 10th. At club level there is probably more time in the driver and you will win with an average engine and carb. There are big engines and fast carbs out there but they will be bought for alot of money and unless you got the money you won't get hold of one unless your very lucky. There are a handful of fast legal engines in S1 and everyone knows whos got what and have sold them already for next year. The engine builders want to have those few engines on there books because they make them look good not because the Dad spends loads of money on having it re-built every few months. The fast engines tend not to be worked on and certainly not re-built very often they are kept for special occasions.
