Perhaps rather than splitting the grid, they could just split the class classification like they used to do with classes such as JTKM and Inters a few years back
Unlike other split grids in races (i.e. cadets running in same race but spaced apart for honda and wtp etc.) the two classes would be mechanically identical, as such they could be run together in a single grid - but the prizes could be split up so say this was a finishing order
1. Andy (177 Young'un) 2. Bob (177 Young'un) 3. Charlie (177 Master) 4. Dave (177 Young'un) 5. Ed (177 Master) 6. Fred (177 Master)
Andy, Bob and Dave would get 1st,2nd,3rd trophies as would Charlie, Ed and Fred
That way we would all still race eachother and need to work our way through the pack etc. but would be competing for seperate prizes
Just a thought - I agree with you though Steve, if classes keep getting split the fields will be diminished, plus it adds extra races to the day making everything that little bit longer
Perhaps a couple of different ways of organising it could be trialled at the first meetings of the year to see which is best
