I cannot comment on your handling issues as you have not given enough info. I have always worked on the principle that it does not matter if the rear end slides providing the front does as well ie yuo need a balance through the corners so that you can retain control and keep the power down when required.
If you are saying the back slides relative to the front try losing grip from the front rather than trying to gain it at the back. THis will make the kart more balanced and quicker to drive.
I have found on occassions that, whilst theory says moving the rears in gives more grip, by moving them out the rear slides for a lap or two but the sliding heats up the rears and by lapthree they are perfect.
You need to test. You have gone in one direction and that does not work now o in the other.
