Hi Ben,

Have you considered Easykart? Your budget would buy you a nearly new kart and there seems to be a cluster of Easykart drivers based in Newbury/Thatcham, including myself.

Easykart could suit you well as there is a lot of support for people like yourself with little or no mechanical experience. Both ACR and the other drivers are always willing to help out new guys. I was in the same boat a year ago having never run a kart before, but this year couldn't have gone more smoothly.

Personally I find the easykart motor (air cooled and no power valve) makes the kart more enjoyable to drive than a Rotax too.

The only thing to bear in mind is that the championship is national ... so you would have a lot more travelling than running just a local championship, of course the up side to this is you get a lot of circuit variation!

Your weight wouldn't be an issue either. Being over 85kg qualifies you for the heavyweight class.
