I totally agree with you marc. Of course harder tyres and fixed gearing would help newcomers. The wets (in max) should definately be made harder.
What about wheels? theres a thread on here about the effect of different air volumes and wheel stiffnesses. From a technical point of view i'm very interested in the theory. As a karter on a budget it turns me cold. I won't be getting any new wheels this year unless they get damaged. Different wheel widths for different conditions and tread depths on wets would be worth testing. But this is just a pain and expensive. Especially for a newcomer.
What about hubs? should they be standardised so you don't need a wet set and a dry set?
What could you get away with out? Carbon floor pans? Carbon seats? Seat stays? Chain guard? Disk protector?
In short make it simple, fewer classes, fewer setup options, cheaper.
