As some of you may remember from previous posts, my 10 year old son has now been out for half a dozen practise sessions in his minimax (no previous cadet experience). Over Christmas we had a day at Rye. It was V.COLD, but dry, and he struggling for grip. Now I understand he is not yet fast enough to really get a lot of heat in the tyres but the thing I can't understand was that, at the start of the session, he and every other minimax driver would head off from the pits around stadium bend. He would be going a similar or slower speed than everyone else at stadium, on the same line, but he was nearly always sliding off in that first bend. At later sessions he was tip-toeing around on the first lap but it was like he was on ice. Was everyone else using tyre warmers? (lol)? I spoke to a lot of the other dads, took their advise on tyre pressures etc but the same think seemed to happen throughout the day.So what was it? technique, set-up, tyres (ours are well worn) or, more likley, a combination of all three? Thanks in advance, Paul
