hi guys ive been reading this with interest, ive never raced before but used to have a tkm kart that wasnt legal to race and it was my fault for not looking into knowing what i wwas buying was an old piece of crap!! anyway ive been thinking about getting into karting probably at 3s,one of my neighbors races there but in the rotax classes and he said i dont want to get into tkm as it was a dying class and said i should go into rotax,he then proceeded to go on about how much money you need to spend to be competative,it sounded crazy,so i bummed the idea of kart racing. now ive been looking again at tkm and this is quite interesting,am i right in thinking that i could use an cheapish chassis thats decent and up to the regs, something like a 2003-2004 and bolt an engine on and almost be away? two other questions, regarding axles, why are some axles hollow and some solid,is it just a weight thing? and one other question ive never seen the tkm engines with a starter on before,i think theyre called tag engines? are they allowed to race in the same classes as normal tkm dd and clutched karts, but i suppose they'd be heavier wouldnt they so the others would have an advantage?
