I recently bought my son a Rotax Junior on an Intrepid chassis. We are at the practice stage and are practicing at Tockwith. We had our first session about 2 weeks ago and had problems with the engine so only managed 7 laps the kart seemed to be flooding and we put our smallest jet in which was a 158 but it still would not run. I took the engine to Walker racing where Neil put it on the dyno after cleaning the carb the engine ran better but he discovered it also needed a timing sensor. The engine ran well on the dyno so we went to Tockwith again yesterday and after about 10 laps we had the same problem of overfueling, the weather was sunny and dry but not very warm. I changed the jet to a 142 and the kart ran really well after that. I am new to Rotax engines but have experience of 2 stroke trials bike engines, my question is is that jet size reasonable (seems small to me) and are these engines very temperamental or am I likely to have another problem? Sorry for the length of post, all advice greatly appreciated.
