Sorry if I came over as suspicious of your advice Dean, I had no way of knowing you run a team of TKMs. It was just that you and Chris appeared to be saying two different things, so it can be hard to know who to believe.
I had piston clearance of 0.1 mm (0.004") with the old piston, which seemed big, but seems to work. Probably the least parallel bore I've ever guaged - I think they must machine the liner before they fit it into the barrel.
The ring gap seemed very tight to me at 0.2 mm (0.008"), but Tal Ko reckon you can go down to half of that. Not sure I'd want to.
I changed mains and seals about 5 hours ago as the previous owner had let the bottom end go rusty, I don't think there's a problem there yet. I'll start out with your recommended carb settings when I get it rebuilt.
