Adam, I think your estimate for how long a TKM engine will last before rebuild might scare anyone not in the know about TKM and scare them off. A BT82 will last a lot longer than 4 meetings before it needs a rebuild and if you are only just taking up the sport it should last you a lot longer. We have run in excess of 10 meetings using our main engine for practice as well as race days and it just kept getting better. All we did inbetween times was change the Main bearings and seals. Anywhere up to and over 15 race days before you need a rebuild. equals 13.33 per race. As you get quicker and are sqeezing every last drop out of your engine then the frequency may increase. There are usually some good bargains to be had on the Market PLace section of this site but you could really do with going to a couple of meetings first and having a word with a few of the TKM lads, we are very approachable on the whole and you will get lots of help and advice before spending any of your hard earned on the wrong thing.
