Watching Will's (jTKM no 3) progress through the year in S1, I have to agree with the words of Phil Harrison and Simon P(eace)above. We ran on either blue or gold all year, and the difference is negligible in most cases. The factor of what is in the driver's head at the time is perhaps more important, i.e. if he felt gold was quicker that was the way to go!
Since the equalisation of the black (the 3 kg addition mid season - thank you Alan Turney for sorting this promptly) I also believe that this no longer has a real advantage. There is a slight issue with a very tall body (e.g. Will) but you just have to crouch down on the straights and rely on the greater experience people of his size and age will in most cases have.
Yes, you may percieve slight differences in peformance on certain parts of certain tracks (i.e off corners; in corners; end of straights etc), but the overall lap times are as comparable as you could get on the different restrictors now I think.
Hats off to Talko for this once again growing economy class where budget is not king.
