It is true that you get what you pay for and you also have to decide what you want to get from your racing and how experienced you are.
I race my own Rotax Max, great fun but expensive, but also race Dmax and have raced Club 100 a couple of times.
Dmax are NOT crap and are NOT slow. lap times are similar to club 100 but the driving experience is different as they are clutched. This is probably an advantage if you are relatively inexperienced as you don't have to wait for the pusher to get you going.
The grids are good for both and you visit a variety of tracks.
You cannot make a judgement from peoples comments as they will have their preferences. Book into a Dmax test and a Club 100 test and make your choice. I can guarantee that you will have great fun in both.
All I would say is don't believe some of these comments about Dmax. RB at Daytona treats the fleet like his babies and having done a couple of 24hr races in them they are reliable and consistent.
Go and enjoy yourself and make up your own mind.
