Fixed jetting is a no brainer in this age group, if you want variable jets why not have this as the next step in Super Cadets, for kids who can already drive.
We ran the Puma engines for two seasons that share many of the Gazelle parts. With variable jet Tillotsons they were a complete nightmare, with constant changes required as engine temperature changed.
It would take a whole season just for a new driver to become competent at keeping the carb at it's optimum throughout a heat, and this was 10 year old kids moving up from Honda, not 8 year old novices.
Furthermore, optimum running settings including pop off made for very difficult starting. To the point that for almost every heat the pack would be sent around again for the bad starters to try and catch up.
