I hope this makes a few people chuckle, possibly not out loud.
The good news: coca cola doesn't seem to discolour the anodising on TKM cylinders or heads in the slightest.
The bad news: it has exactly the same effect on the carbon deposits. i.e. zip, sod-all, nada. I thought it softened them a bit, but as it turns out not even any more than water that I can tell. (I even did a control experiment).
Single or double seat stays? Possibly. I can definitely feel the difference between putting a seat stay on the front of the bearing carrier or the back of the bearing carrier. The angle of the seat stay also seems to matter, so there's something going on with the way my ribcage transfers load to the back axle. I think it's probably to do with load paths rather than stiffness.
Mag wheels? They're lighter and I'm fat. I think the "low volume" possibly has more effect than the material, but whatever the effects, they're a bit too subtle for me to measure. On a diet, next set will be ally.
Harder vs. softer steel axles? I suppose it's just about possible that the interface between the hub and wheel might be affected by surface hardness. But that's one I can't believe in enough to try yet, as I know I can get a bigger change in stiffness by moving the hub by 1 mm.
