With all due respect, I haven't found that to be the case. It depends entirely on where your starting point is. For me it was a long way from anywhere useful. I spent the bulk of this season being helped with seat position, front and rear track width and how they interact, how to judge what tyre pressures to be using, how to choose a rear hub length, ride height adjustment, the effects of ackermann and toe out, subtle and not so subtle tweaks to torsional stiffness, and front to rear stiffness distribution, and of course the dreaded seat-stays.
When you say they are easy to set up, compared with what? I've worked on setup on a lot of vehicles: rally, race, desert rally; single seaters, saloons, space-frame prototypes; motocross, enduro, short and long-circuit road race, endurance road-race. They all present their own little challenges (and big ones at times), but I've got to say I found kart setup neither easy nor intuitive. It turned out I needed someone experienced to show me the ropes, and I feel like I'm starting to get a feel for it now. But easy? I find vehicles with springs and dampers a lot easier.
