Hi, if JM go with the Fiche that IAME use world wide, and I understand they will be, there is no om for an engine tuner to work. All the machined surfaces are marked at the factory and their removal makes the unit illegal. Having travelled to France for the World finals it is clear that the engines are very well matched. There were 'old' engines doing as well as the new units. I was made aware that the bore size/piston fit is critical, and that most drivers/teams run them to max bore size. The X30 WILL be more expensive to run than Rotax, pistons, reed petals etc will be needed often. I am prepared to replace the barrels on our two engine at least once next year. we reduced our cost buying two s/h engines in France which my son was able to test. X30 could be quicker than Max in the long term, it will be more time consuming to keep on top line, and expensive. Its an alternative to Rotax at best, probably more reliable than KGP, with a World wide reputation to protect. It is nice to be able to do a lot of engine work yourself though.
