Hi James, obviously I can only comment on the two engines we have. Both came from France and were optimized to their fiche. As you can appreciate no two engines are ever the same, but our two do seem very well matched. Both measure up well on ports etc. and this does reflect well on the dyno/track. The guys we bought them did suggest that there were rare monster engines in France but nothing like the wide variation they had found in Rotax. None of the parts in our engines are specially selected and both have the same barrel and crank assembly original fitted (early 2012). Piston and rods have been replaced along the way, so I can only surmise that the engines will indeed be well matched. However it goes without saying, sadly, that the fat wallet effect will come round once UK tuners get a look in. At present I dont see there is a lot of room to improve on the basic unit, as long as JM use the World Wide Fiche that IAME supply. Only time will tell, performance and cost controls rely lie in the importers hands. But at present I would say YES!!
