this was done at the O plate with the minis two false start due to contact and one red flag due to kart flipping, race stopped, returned to park ferme and restarted after other heats run, was probably the best start of the day all karts thru the first corner no contact and all kart thru intact. only problem being that the final everything reverted back to normal with drivers getting excluded on the last lap. if the race was abandoned, how would that be fair on the innocent parties regarding points? that would just make it easier for the better drivers to secure a championship or a seed.
the answer is obvious contact no matter how small should not be tolerated, if you cant make it thru the first corner or any other corner without making contact then you should be held responsible, time penalties? contact does happen and sometimes is unavoidable but its is down to the driver following to make sure they can stop in time when following. if f1 drivers can do it at 150+ mph then I'm sure karters can manage it at 60-70mph, and the same can be said for overtaking up the inside, many times you see the driver darting down the inside and using the outside kart to help get them around the corner, thats not over taking thats being brash, but also if someone is on your inside space should be given which also happened a lot at rowrah and it turned into a jostling match out of the corner. many an example at last weekends O plate for both scenarios and before someone jumps in with the it wont happen in S1 these were all S1 driver across all classes and i suggest you read my earlier post referring to the the end of the tkm S1 at shenny and tell me it doesn't happen.
