Sad to say that many drivers turn up and rely on being run by so called teams who have one interest only- their cash. Yes you learn to drive to a fashion, but what do you really know and get out of karting?
Another year gone, IAME, Rotax & TKM, within the next decade you will be guilty of killing off many years of expertise, skills and proud rivalry of a profession that will never return.
Yes we have engine builders but when it comes to tuning engines and understanding how these engine work � no, I guess less we have merely a few dozen of these experts within the UK left. Kart engine tuner�s are a dying breed, karting needs to get back to grass roots and preserve this skill, retro racing has regenerated some of the business, but to survive the MSA need�s one open tuning clubman class, this will encourage some of the young people who race, to start rebuilding and understand their own engines again, learn how to modify and tune, this is exactly how I started and I don�t regret it for one minute. Karting is not only won on the track, it can be also won from the workshop, the satisfaction, pride and learning is fantastic. Let hope someone takes note!!!
