Much of this 'decline' in grids is simply down to the fact that money is tight. In spite of the protestations of the PM, with flat wage and salary rises over the last 8 years there is just not the surplus cash about as to pre 2008. With the Bank of England monetary policy committee now warning of interest rises 'in the new year' anyone with a mortgage is going to see another �200 a month less spending money (You fill in the amount). It's the uncertainty. Need to buy that kitchen bathroom dream holiday etc. now before...... People are targeting what they can afford to do.
It is not much fun to race in a grid of 5, much better with grids of 15 to 25.
This is not meant as a political jab/jib, it is some of the facts as I see it in karting. Things will get better but could take another 5 years.
