If you run a search on this site you will eventually find posts from years ago from well learned individuals that discuss the merits of fuel for the gx160.

As I recall, given this is a low compression engine it is actually better to use a lower octane fuel - the octane rating being reflective of the fuel's ability to combust under pressure.

Granted Optimax or whatever Shell call it these days might have additional cleansing additives, however, higher octane rating might actually have a negative affect on performance.
