Ok lets start with the left hand engine (assuming you have 2) as the right hand one may be reversed ... We will get to that one later ... View the clutch on the shaft and note where the locating lobe is in the centre of the clutch mechanism , it will be easier if you rotate the crankshaft so the lobe is at approx the 10 o'clock position its counterpart will be at the 4 o'clock position . Now look at the top shoe , there are 2 cut outs for the lobe to fit into , one is closer to the end of the shoe than its counterpart , with the closest one fitted into the lobe at 10 0'clock this is pos.1 , soft engagement , they all come on this setting as standard with white springs . By moving the shoes thru 180 degrees you have 4 positions available . Think of it like this ... As you look at the clutch it will rotate anti-clockwise , the further clockwise you move the centre lobe in relation to the shoe locations the fiercer the engagement will be . Lastly if your right hand engine has the clutch facing inwards then you must mirror image the settings from the left hand one to compensate for the reversed rotation .
