Get a few spare parts, including Axle, spare side pods and bumber, a chain and sprocket will also help.
Get a little hard backed note book and make notes of every test and race day, trust me this will help in the future, Try and make friends with some one in the same class and pick the brains dry, give them a beer , it helps.
Do not buy at the track, Zoom Karts (http://www.zoomkarts.com ) and KKC have very good prices also look on ebay.
Clean the kart after every day out, this will help you see if you have any damage or broken parts, Keep on asking for help, 90% of other drivers will help you out.
Keep the notes you have made.
Use this site , it has a quite good search list going back in time, when your lad is going quicker, get a good engine and keep it in top tip trim.
RPM Racing engines are the best.
Good luck,
Cheers Trev
