GX140 spring has been supersceded by the G4 spring which is slightly stiffer and is used by all the engine tuners I know. Debaffled exhausts are worth more than you would think but if you are new to karting you will always find more performance in chassis set up and learning to drive. Seat time will gain seconds, engine tuning (assuming what you have is standard) will be lucky to get you tenths). That is how it is relatively easy to spot when something isn't quite right. Engine modifications don't always show up in full on the lap time as the additional power is masked by limited driver skill. Bottom line is anyone can be quick in a straight line, the secret is to be quick in, out and through the technical bits.
