You can't compare PF's prokart event with Warden Law as we have race in a full race meeting with 5 or 6 classes. If you read the full newsletter I recall Ian mentioning the possibility of Senior TKM as a class as well. So with the greatest of respect lads, there is no intention to split the prokart grid. Even with 40+ karts on the prokart grid I don't think there have been any significant problems. And a successful race meeting is always going to attract more drivers. I think the balance is about right and am proud to race in this series and be associated with Karting North East.
Who moves up into the Elite class will not be down to the drivers either and the basis of promotion has not even been discussed (but I bet it has been thought about). The principal of the creation of the Clubman class has worked very well in my view and there have been some very good drivers that deserve to move up as a consequence of their improvement in performance over the season. Promotion should be based on position in the championship overall, anyone finishing in the top three throughout the year and probably anyone breaking into the 59s. Either way anyone being moved up should feel a sense of accomplishment that their driving has caught the attentioin of some experienced officials even though it might not be reflected in teh overall points standing.
Clubman was intended for novices, emerging and participative drivers and, assuming this continues into next year, we will again see another good bunch of lads and lasses emerging to the front of the clubman grid.
One question, however - should there be demotion from Elite to Clubman?? I think Trev and I should take a step down!!!!!
Lewis, you deserve to be racing in Elite this year with the pace you have - at the start of the year your dad was in full agreement. I think Ian's decision with yourself and Aly has worked out correct, however, and another year's experience with some success in Clubman has probably better prepared you to move up. You know you are quick and can race with anyone.
