So what is your point?
The major engine builders do this sort of stuff on a nigh on industrial scale, not the cottage industry that you appear to be suggesting. As such, they will be suitably equipped (jigged, tooled and fixtured) to do the job in a nice efficient fashion.
Or is this (YAWN) another one of those toady sort of adverts for RPM? Your quote; "Only a small profit, too cheap !! Put the price up Rog !!!" is the sort that I guess they may at times perceive actually does them a little bit more harm than good. Mind you, I wish I had customers like you who implored me to raise my prices. Jewels beyond price!
I have no axe to grind here, I have used RPM in the past, and have found them to be good guys who gave a good service. However, I use Prokart Engineering for my engine prep, as I find Jeff a great guy to deal with and to work with. Straightforward, honest and extremely helpful. As, I am sure, are other people in this field.
If you honestly believe that a manufacturer (Honda) or configurator (Prokart Engineering, RPM etc) is sitting on a stack of parts that are fit for nothing but scrap because they cannot be used in race prepped engines, think again. As they are within dimensional specification and tolerance, do you REALLY believe that they are just going to be scrapped?! Think on, businesses do not make profit this way.
If the prices being charged were not the market prices, you would be paying something altogether different. If they were as unreasonably low, as you seem to be suggesting, I think that I can guarantee that you would be paying a higher price than you are today. Although with your request to RPM to charge you more, who could blame them if they did. As the Chinese say,: "be careful for what you wish, as you might just get it".
Thank you for your stimulating thoughts in this matter.
Kind regards
Chris
