For the sprint racing we do the stanadrd manual adjusting kart Component brake is probably the best you can get. they are dead simple and are cheap to service and maintain. More importantly you get awesome feel from it especially with the green EBC pads.
I have a kelgate floating system as well - the K system which is perfectly fine but it is like an on/off switch and you simply don't get the progressive feel that you do with the std brake.
Pads are important as is the condition of the disc.
I have experience of a sticking kelgate which simply resulted in the most frustrating few races ever. Fixed or floating is an intersting debate. I didn't like fixed but floating is another �150 plus vat!!!!
You ca but a full system for that!
