The success of prokarting in recent years has been to run to a proven unchanged formula which had Standard Weight at 180kg. Wl with 40+ karts and PF with 50+ karts are testament to this.
Since the MSA increased the weight limit in 2002ish to 175KGs we have added bigger nose cones, cik bodywork and bars, chain guards and disk protectors. While there are some scrawny individuals of the mature variety that can still achieve this (trev) I would imagine that the nutritionally challenged might find it difficult.
Yes have a heavy class at 190KG or whatever but it makes little sense to me to deviate from whatever is already working. Plus it makes it consistent between the Sprint and Enduro which, logically, has to be a bonus (or have I missed something?) Also, I think there is a risk of fragmenting the classes too much. Junior drivers run with Seniors at the same weight at both PF and WL making one big class. Yes there will be the argument about the amount of lead they carry blah blah but they already do so no biggy.
Also, by MSA will that mean that the karts will all have to comply with CIK bodywork, chain guards etc or will common sense prevail with this as well? (Trev's kart would not comply!!).
Finally I think there is a clarification required regarding clashing with EPEC. Brochure says Sunday 30th for the 10 hour enduro while the Website says Saturday 30th!!
I really do hope that a success is made of this and I think it is important to start from a solid foundation. The formula is already working elsewhere, build on that and success will follow. Try to deviate too far and it presents a barrier. Happy to talk to anyone off line on this to help - usual mobile and email.
