may aswell chuck my penith in aswell,it seems to me we are making a mountain out of a mole hill, the current race program at w.l has worked exceptionally well in the past,i recall in my first ever meeting qualifying 11th when there was 40+karts on the grid going back some six maybe seven years ago, there was no concern then for a split grid.i agree with some of the other comments already made i have seen much worse incidents created with a much smaller field of karts, the quantity of karts on the circuit is not the problem, you can only pass one kart at a time it is down to the driver to execute the safe manover,if he gets it wrong do what the race marshalls have done very well in the past in dealing with the driver, give a greater penalty for consistent poor driving (black flag, you do it in the hire karts).motor racing is dangerous and there are going to be accidents.the guys at the frt can be just as bad if not worse than some of the slower guys who are still finding there feet at the rear.maybe we could go back to a standing start which would elliminate some of the entry speed into the first corner where alot of the incidents seem to occurr, you may have to move the start line down the straight but if it makes for safer racing then its got to be a good thing.as a very well run circuit i am sure safety is waht you have in mind but by bringing in these kind of radical changes to accomodate what is a very workable grid i think there will be an awfull lot of unhappy people.if however there needs to be a change then we need to come up with a better solution than what has already been suggested to be able to stay with same format,we need to remember it is a fun meeting!!! some suggestions 1 run two championships a and b if grids dwinndle you can combine them both anyway as we do ellite/clubman. 2 promote those who are showing they can put in the lap times to contest the ellite therefore giving a better even split across two races(and you all know who you are)points scored in clubman class should be carrried into the ellite group aswell to keep the ellite drivers on there toes. 3 do nothing and leave things the way they are get the driving standards up.and maybe by getting new under experienced drivers to take a test of competance to show they are safe to compete in waht must be one of the best attended meetings in the country. i vote for suggestion no 3.but thats just my view!! dave no 80.
