As I said I have a different perspective on this, perhaps it is irellevent or maybe it allows me to see more clearly. Being in a country that is dominated by the rental market, it is I'm told the biggest participation sport in France with Rental kart sprint racing dominating most tracks and yet the vast majority of outdoor tracks never host owner driver events.
Not surprising really when you consider how far the sport has gone up it's own backside. So dominated by specialised almost prototype style equipment that it is virtually impossible for anyone from outside the sport to get involved, let alone be competative.
The problem is there is virtually nothing to bridge the gap, between rental & owner driver. In the UK you have Prokart, non-MSA & Easykart that do this quite effectively and IMO is clearly one big reason why karting in the UK is so big, relative to most anywhere else in Europe.
But karting is still missing a trick, it still needs an intermediate level but high level class under the MSA banner with equal maintanance free engines, like Rotax should have been.
Just to go back to the original topic, GX160 with fan, peak power 7.3hp, same engine without fan 7.8hp.
