7 is NOT too young and I don't think any of us suggested it was: I started my two at 5 and 6!
All most of us were concerned about was that you seemed too concerned about him having 'overtaking aggression' at the age of 7.
Your lad may or may not develop that 'urge' to pass but it's not a sign of ANYTHING at the age of 7.... he may end up HATING racing or he may be the next David Coulthard... at this age, it's too soon to know! All we were saying is let him ENJOY his karting for whatever reason that satisfies him at this stage. In my 50 years karting experience, I've rarely, if EVER, met ANYBODY who enjoyed their racing, or even got GOOD at it, if they felt too 'pressurised' by family.
Let him 'play', show him HOW to get quicker (get some of the books on racing technique) and make your knowlefdge AVAILBALE to him when he's ready to receive that knowledge! Take or meet friends at the track with whom he can start the equivalent of 'PLAY fighting' on the track.... if it's going to develop... that'll do it!
