Back in the good old days when I started No one had any Paid for Super engines other than from a Local SHOP in South Yorkshire !!!, cannot remember his name off hand :)

Most drivers, changed the oil with Castrol GTX/etc , lapped the valves in, used cans of Mr Sheen to clean the engines and racing was close.

Then came along ASM and too the Honda grids by storm .

followed by RPM and the rest, since then with High Tec Dyno systems and better oils and people understanding the Honda engines the engines are a little quicker, just look at the lap records around the UK from early days to today , you will not find a second or even .6 sec from a SP engine , more time can be found in set up, tyres and not forgetting practice.
