I use paraffin to get rid of the dirt, water to get rid of the paraffin WITH dirt, and then carb cleaner to get rid of the water and any strays, AND I leave the lot to dry out anyway. No harm using water guys, its metal and therefore non-pourous and once the carb cleaners done away with it.. neigh bother! :)
Not sure on recycling gaskets either. We did that a few times and KEPT ON having blocked up carbs every single race, and I know of other teams having this problem as a result. As soon as I did my aforementioned method, with new gaskets all round.. they've ran without blockages for over a year now! Tried and tested... thats all I'll say :)
Each to their own though really, and you draw your own opinions from your own experiences.
I would thoroughly recommend my method over anyone elses, as I've tried just using airline and carb cleaner, had them ultra sonically cleaned but STILL gone out on track and had another blockage that I just couldn't shift quickly enough. I can only presume that others are very lucky and hadnt had the persistent problems I had.
Best of luck to you with which ever method you go with anyway, nothing worse than a carb related issues on track.
