Let me explain, all I wanted to do with my engine was repair it myself using standard TKM parts off the shelf. As mine was a practice engine I wasn't too bothered about having a seal on it. So, in my case "no internal engine parts available" was not a plus point. You mention "parts selection"...surely the only parts available would be original parts from TKM?
I don't see why you say this is "bound to be a problem" with a Rotax, for the same reason. Maybe you are implying that people modify engine parts before fitting them. Well, that's no problem unless the people rebuilding & sealing engines are guilty. As I understand it, a sealed engine implies that an engine was rebuilt using off the shelf manufacturer's parts [of which the selection of standard components should be quite "legal"] without any modification.
Let me know if you think I've missed the point here!
