If you ever need evidence of equal, close racing you should have watched the Super 1 Honda cadet final at Wilton Mill last weekend. That was a true driving demonstration and any one of the 7 or 8 could have won. More possibly had there not been a coming together. Yes the engines will all have been good but none had an engine advantage.
Buy back could only work if the price paid equated to the cost of an equivalent replacement which clearly the engine providers can produce as Sunday clearly demonstrated. �500 is too light in my view but �1k would bit is a bit like the protest fee. It has to be enough for it not to be in constant application. And I suppose that leads neatly to the whole protest system. That has to be a far better way to contest the level playing field than buying the engine. Surely.
